I started teaching Electronic Keyboard & Music Theory in 1993, initially to a few private pupils, which shortly expanded to additionally teaching for a local music school.
One of my very first pupils was only 5 years old but after her very first lesson it was quite apparent that she was a very capable young person with an amazing talent.
Over the years this pupil went from strength to strength, passing both her practical keyboard and music theory examinations with excellent results. I continued to teach her all through her GCSE and A level music exams, before going off to university to study for her music degree.
Conversley I have also had a number of adult pupils whose only desire was to learn to play a musical instrument, having being on their ‘to do’ list for many years, whose only interest was in playing for their own enjoyment.
Over the last year I have been fortunate to gain experience in teaching Electronic Keyboard and Music Theory to a young disabled pupil as she continues her mainstream education in High School, a very fulfilling experience for both myself and the young person.
I personally find it very satisfying to see my pupils progression along their musical journey, taking them from their beginnings up to the point where they no longer need a tutor.
The most important point is that learning has to be enjoyable
